Over 500 individuals who receive the Legislative News Alert have enlisted in California Church IMPACT's Rapid Action Alert Network. Participants agree to respond in writing to a legislator on a priority issue within 48 hours after hearing from us. We call upon the Rapid Action Alert network 3-4 times each year at strategic points in the legislative process.
If you are interested in becoming a member of the Rapid Action Alert network for 2002, please send a note with your name, street address and e-mail address (if you have one) to: Rapid Action Alert, California Church IMPACT, 2715 K Street, Suite D, Sacramento, CA 95816. Or e-mail us a note at impactinfo@calchurches.org
In December, 1998 IMPACT initially invited Rapid Action Alert members to help build a network of activists who can serve as Legislative Advocacy Coordinators in the 2001-2002 legislative session. Our goal in 2002 is to build a grassroots network of 40 Legislative Advocacy Coordinators, one for each state senatorial district.
This unique group of advocates will be in communication with others in their local congregations and with their elected officials' district office staff to work on IMPACT's priority issues during the legislative session.
Many of you have accepted our invitation, and others who could not join have offered their encouragement and support. Thank you!
Legislative Advocacy Coordinators will receive training and support from California Church IMPACT staff on effective advocacy and on legislation as the year progresses.
We're still looking for volunteers. Please call or e-mail Elizabeth Sholes, Public Policy Coordinator, if you are interested in more information, a job description and/or an application form for this exciting ministry at (916) 442-5447. Or fax or e-mail a message to us.
