How do we, as people of faith, engage with the new federal health care provisions as we move forward to a more compassionate health care future?  How can federal reform enhance or restrict us in our pursuit of a system that affords health, wholeness, and human dignity for all?   What remains to be done?

If you are anxious about what is available to you, your family and friends, and your congregational members, please join the California Council of Churches and Faithful Reform in Health Care at our first health care conference update Saturday, October 22, 2011 from 8:00 am until 3:30 pm. 

We will be at the Community Church of Mill Valley, 8 Olive Street, Mill Valley CA, a beautiful facility in the redwoods in Marin County north of the Golden Gate Bridge off Highway 101.  The convening will be in Tamalpais Hall.  A continental breakfast and lunch will be included along with materials you can take back home or share with your friends and congregational members.

We will move beyond the sound bits and press releases, the politics, and the fears about what is already in place and what is coming in the future.  We will examine not only how health reform fits our values but what is in reform, how we access programs tailored to our specific conditions, how our congregations can do outreach to communities to link them with health care programs, and how current budget deliberations in both Washington and Sacramento may or may not impact the future of our entire health care system.

Due to limited space, we ask that you register early with a deadline of October 19, 2011.  Please feel free to invite as many of your friends as you like, but we have a maximum capacity for 100 people so prompt return is encouraged.  Please note that a second similar event will occur in January, so if this date is not convenient, we will have another opportunity.
